Ingrid Anna Owens, 80, of Martinsville passed to her eternal life on March 21, 2018. Ingrid was born to Franziska Irmgard (Götzinger) and Willi Artur Theobald in Munich, Germany on February 25, 1938. Throughout her childhood in Germany, Ingrid enjoyed simple pleasures such as climbing trees, sewing dolls, and riding bikes. When World War II broke out, Ingrid lived with her grandmother, Margaretha Segerer while her parents served in the German forces. On December 12, 1943, her father died on the Russian front. Following the end of the war in 1945, Ingrid’s mother struggled to return home from Russian controlled Bulgaria. In 1948, Ingrid’s mother remarried to American soldier Dewey Patton. Ingrid became a big sister two years later.
On July 12, 1950, Ingrid immigrated to the United States under the sponsorship of her step-father. After spending a year in Petersburg, Virginia, Ingrid moved with her family to Indianapolis. She briefly attended Warren Central High School where she excelled in her German courses.
In 1955, Ingrid was wooed by Richard Lee Canada. The two married in January of 1957 before welcoming their first child Deborah Ann in August of the same year. Ingrid and Richard also welcomed children Richard Lee II in January 1959, Victoria Sue in January 1960, Karen Louise in November 1962, and Steven Dale in May 1966.
Following her divorce from Richard, Ingrid refound love with Dennis Marshall Owens. The two married October 1973. Together, they raised their children and enjoyed many grandchildren until Dennis’ passing in September 2007.
In 1998, Ingrid retired from RCA after 34 years, many of which were spent operating forklifts. Ingrid was an avid member of league bowling, a NASCAR fanatic, a blue-bleeding Colts fan, a recreational slot machine player, adventure seeker, and a religious viewer of daytime soap operas. Even though her family sometimes “drove her nuts,” her favorite evening was spent losing a violent round of Spoons.
Ingrid was preceded in death by her father, Willi Theobald; mother, Franziska Patton; step-father Dewey Patton; first husband, Richard Canada; husband, Dennis Owens; and daughter, Deborah Chandler. Ingrid is survived by son Richard (Anita) Canada II, daughter Victoria Phillips, daughter Karen Gephart, and son Steven (Jessica) Canada; sisters, Julie (Morris) Zuckerman and Johanna (Dennis) Lindsley; 10 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, March 26, 2018 at 12:30 p.m. at The Point Church, 2578 Donica Road, Greenwood, IN 46143 with visitation from 10:30 a.m. until the time of service. Burial to immediately follow at Nebo Memorial Park Cemetery, Martinsville, IN.

Ingrid is my sister-in-law, she will be sorely missed by family and our many friends. She had good sense of humor, always had a joke. Miss and love you.
